Honey Sriracha Jalapeño Poppers

Well football season has arrived and so what a better time for a jalapeno popper recipe! A delicious and easy appetizer to make any football fan’s Sunday much more enjoyable!

The hubby has been a little sriracha CRAZY lately! Okay not a little A LOT! Like he puts it on EVERYTHING!  This was my inspiration behind these tasty spicy poppers…. my husbands sriracha addition!

And of course the large abundance of jalapenos coming out of the garden right now! I get way more peppers in the Fall than in the Summer here in NC. This is because peppers prefer temps in the 70’s-80’s. We see a lot of the 90’s here in July and August. So in September when the temperature finally drops these spicy beauties start popping up like crazy!

Ingredients

10 jalapeños sliced in half and seeded

1/2 block of cream cheese

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tbsp sriracha

1 tbsp of honey

1/2 cup of panko bread crumbs

1 lime

1 scallion chopped

Start by washing jalapenos, slicing them in half and removing the seeds and membranes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a mixing bowl mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, honey, sriracha and half of the bread crumbs until completely incorporated.

Spoon mixture into jalapeno halves and sprinkle the remaining bread crumbs on to the top of them. Bake for 15 minutes or until jalapenos are tender. Garnish with chopped scallions and more sriracha if desired and lime wedges. This recipe yields 20 poppers. The perfect appetizer to snack on while cheering on your team!

Grow it. Pick it. Cook it. Eat it.
